Do You Feel the Stars are Improving on DWTS?

First of all, let us say we are sorry that Kim Zolciak had to leave the show for health reasons, and that Tony Dovolani will no longer be competing this year.  Tony, like the other professional dancers on the show,  is a great partner because he is always trying to choreograph to his star’s strengths.

As for this episode, we enjoyed the TV show music theme.  Mark Ballas was incredibly creative with his Breaking Bad theme, and Alexa kept up with him beautifully.  Alek has been improving each week as well.  Was anyone surprised by who was in the bottom 2 this week?

Did the Stars on DWTS pull off learning 2 dances this week?

We watched Tuesday night’s DWTS episode where the dancers were required to perform a second dance this week.  However the highlight for us was the snippets we learned about the professional dancers.  Who would have enjoyed watching an hour learning more about Derek, Anna, Val, Louis and all other other professionals on DWTS rather than watching 2 hours of dancing this week?

Week #2 of Dancing With the Stars!

Did you watch last night’s episode?  Why does Derek get above average dancers each season?  Why is it necessary to make reference to people’s figures instead of their dancing? Did you feel that some of the dancers improved?   Watch our video to hear our thoughts.  Share your comments about the episode with us as well.

Welcome to Our Review of Fall 2015’s Dancing With the Stars!

As you may recall from last season, each week we review the previous night’s Dancing with the Stars episode. As you know last night (Monday) was this season’s (season 21) first episode with the new cast of stars from youth conservationist Bindi Irwin to horse jockey Victor Espinoza  and chef Paula Deen to Chaka Kahn to internet sensation Hayes Grier to Carlos and Alexa Penavega, just to name of few.  There are 13 “Stars” this season, each of whom is paired with a professional ballroom dancer and choreographer.  Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, and Val Chmerkovskiy as well as Allison Holker, Anna Trebunskaya and Sharna Burgess and 7 other professional dancers join the cast.  We hope you will tune in each Tuesday after you have watched the DWTS episode to hear our review.  Please feel free to share your thoughts on how the dancers, choreographers and judges performed as well.

It’s Time to Dance!

There is such a broad spectrum of music in our world — jazz, pop, classical, reggae, country, opera and rap (and many more)– and it is constantly be shaped and reshaped.  It is not uncommon to find rap sequences in r & b or even rap in an otherwise “easy listening” song.  Likewise, dance styles must grow and expand with the music.  Renee is always willing to challenge herself to choreograph to current music as well as the old standards.

We thought we would go back to our Tappin Duo roots and share some of Renee’s brilliant choreography to Pitbull’s Fireball.  Enjoy!!!

Is Street vs. Stage on SYTYCD working for you?

Hi everyone.  Did you see last Monday’s episode of SYTYCD?  We are disappointed because the dancers are not growing as much as we had hoped. Meanwhile, the dance styles seem to blend together because they all have some form of hiphop or animation in them.   Even the cha cha number was “club cha cha” rather than a strictly “ballroom” form.  If you had watched the previous week’s 10th year anniversary show of SYTYCD, you would see the caliber of past performances which is missing thus far.  This year’s dancers need to push themselves out of their comfort zones and challenge themselves to more.  We know these dancers can dance and perform, but can they reach new heights?

So You Think You Can Dance Eliminates 2!

Have you watched last night’s episode of SYTYCD?  The choreography was wonderful and the dancers worked hard.  Ballet Dancer Jim was able to get down and hip hop with street dancer JaJa.  We sure hope that next week’s episode pushes all the dancers outside of their comfort zone, not just Jim.  The street and stage dancers executed the intricacies of each of the closing numbers beautifully.   Congratulations to all dancers.  We are sorry to see Lilly leave so soon.  Best of luck to both Lilly and Darian.

So You Think You Can Dance Top 20 dancers!

Last night SYTYCD presented its top 20 dancers and introduced some new choreographers.  While overall last night’s episode was entertaining, we are  interested to see whether the dancers will be asked to try new genres of dance. Travis Wall and Stephen “Twitch” Boss encouraged their teams.  Stage dancers need to bring more personality to their dancing, and Street dancers need to bring more technique.  Next week at least 1 stage dancer and 1 street dancer will go home. Watch our video to hear our thoughts.
